Stefani donates $166K to fire victims

Gwen Stefani is contributing $166,000 from her local concert to provide scholarships for students who lost their homes in San Diego's recent wildfires.

Proceeds from her Oct. 30 concert in San Diego were donated to The San Diego Foundation's fire relief fund.

"When I heard about the devastation of the fires, at first I felt I should cancel my show out of respect. But then it occurred to me there might be a more useful solution," the 38-year-old singer said in a recent statement.

The Spice Girls will return to North America to play more live dates in the new year, with a big extension to their world tour announced today.

The band will play an additional seven shows in January and February, including a huge date at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Feb. 18.

The reformed band played their first live show together last week since Geri Halliwell left the band in 1998, with a date in Vancouver. They hit the UK later this month, with a mammoth 17 shows in total at London's O2 Arena.

The new Spice Girls tour dates are:
